When using robotics or automation for assembly, difficulty is experienced in trying to assemble parts due to close tolerances, and jamming and wedging may occur. The traditional approach is to design a compliant gripper mechanism for the robotic arm. An alternate approach is to provide a mechanism that builds compliance into the assembly fixture.
