With the proliferation of communications in the text processing field i.e., electronic document distribution, there is a need for a simple compact communications line monitor. The present structure is a generalized format for such a communications line monitor. With reference to the figure, the monitor contains the following components: a panel display 10, a one-megabIt monolithic memory cell structure 11, a data processor mounted on a single board 12 and a power supply 13. It is suggested that the functions to be supported will be the duplex monotoring of start-stop functions, bisynchronous communication and SDLC (synchronous data link control) communication lines. The status of 12 communications lines may be constantly displayed on light-emitting diodes.
