Abstract

Fig. 1 illustrates an implementation of a densely configurable sliding print hammer actuator mechanism. Each of the sliders 1A, 1B, 1C etc., has a print hammer face 10 and can be energized by means of electromagnets to slide in the direction of the arrow shown on slider 1A. The sliders 1A, 1B, 1C, etc., have flux path members 2 embedded in them. These members are of magnetic material and are spaced apart to align with the pole faces of an electromagnet assembly to be discussed later. When the electromagnets are energized, the flux path members 2 are drawn forward in the direction of the arrow on slider lA until they align with the pole faces. Upon de-energization of the electromagnets, a return spring 11 retracts the slider 1A. The sliders 1A, 1B, 1C, etc.
