Pluggable Interface Packaging for Printed Circuit Boards
Original Publication Date: 1983-May-01

This article describes a packaging arrangement which allows a primary circuit board to be connected to external circuitry through a pluggable interface board mounted in its own cartridge type frame. The interface board may include components with above normal failure rates (e.g., fuses) and/or converters for interfacing the primary circuit board to different communication media. A primary circuit board originally developed for a system having electrical communication media might be used in a fiber-optic system simply by changing the pluggable interface board.
