The arrangement assures that the rotary actuators are within a specified rotation range. Calibrating the manipulator to a known precise actuator rotation improves the machine accuracy. The check tool consists of a base plate 10 with a nest 12 to precisely position the rotary actuator 14 on test, a rotary actuator hold-down clamp 16, and a vernier mount 18 positioned with respect to a degree dial disc 20 which is inserted and clamped on the rotary actuator shaft by a shaft clamp 22. With the rotary actuator 14 clamped in place and the degree dial disc 20 locked on the shaft, rotate the dial disc 20 clockwise until it stops. Loosen the shaft clamp 22 and then the disc until the zero position on the disc 20 and the vernier 24 are in line; then tighten the shaft clamp 22.
