In advanced automated information processing operations involving both data processing and text processing equipment, there is a requirement for a universal printing system wherein various text or data processors may communicate with a printer which will provide the documents or printouts using a universal print level data stream. For convenience, such a universal print level data stream will be referred to as a level 2 data stream. To this end, various conversions would have to be made in the data stream utilized in the particular processing system in order for that data to be communicated through the universal level data stream to the particular printer.
