A tool is described for enabling insulated solid conductor wire to be connected to a terminal on a printed circuit board without having to strip either end of the insulated wire or to measure the length of wire required. Preliminary evaluation of the tool indicates a substantial time-saving relative to previously known methods. In addition to the cut-strip-wrap feature, this tool also provides a mechanism for controlling the amount of forward pressure that is applied to the termination during the wrapping process. This minimizes the ability of the tool user to influence the quality of the wrap termination and, as wire sizes decrease, this feature may mean the difference in the ability of the user to produce a good solderless wrapped termination.
