Process for Quickly Producing Fault Analysis Trees

Disclosed is a procedure implemented in a computer program that analyzes raw fault analysis data to generate an input file that takes advantage of the fault analysis decision tree generation logic in the Maintenance Analysis Package (MAP) Process. The automation of this task greatly reduces the time needed to generate a fault isolation tree from raw fault data. This raw input data consists of the results of a series of tests (hardware and/or software based) performed on a "good" machine and on a "faulted" machine. The flow diagram presents an overall picture of where the function fits into a complete MAP development process. The skeleton MAP generation section of the diagram can be implemented using a JCL (Job Control Language) stream in MVS environments or as an EXEC to run in a virtual machine under VM.
