The vented, double walled safety cabinet disclosed herein provides a means for safely and economically disposing of waste solvents and slurries in a manufacturing environment. The safety cabinet surrounds a 55-gallon drum, and includes a safety lid which covers the drum and is held open by a fusible link that melts in the event of fire. Operation of safety cabinet 10 is as follows: Drum cover 4 is lifted above door 7 and secured. Door 7 is opened and an empty 55-gallon drum 1 on skid 2 is placed in the cabinet. Door 7 is closed, and drum cover 4 is lowered to contact drum 1. Waste slurry or solvent is poured into drum 1 through a hole in drum cover 4. Solvent fumes are exhausted through the vented wall 3 of the cabinet, through exhaust connection 5.
