This article describes a method of transmitting all-points addressable (APA) or non-coded information (NCI) across an interface to a matrix-type printing device capable of horizontal registration of 1/240 inch and vertical registration of 1/96 inch. The basic requirement is for a 120 by 120 pel (picture element) density with casual requirement 240 by 240 pel. The Non-Coded Raster Image sent to the printer by the host consists of controls which define an image, shape, or special character as a sequence of dots. That is, rather than requesting the printer to generate an image (as in Coded Image), the host specifies when and where individual pels should be placed. The following describes a set of commands which directly or indirectly define such a print image.
