In order to read a read-only memory (ROM), at least a chip enable signal is required. In the normal situation. the read signal, in conjunction with a signal which selects the R0M, is used to enable the R0M chip, as shown in Fig. 1. However, in the situation where the R0M used has a slower access time than that required by the microprocessor using it, it is necessary to generate a ROM enable in advance of the read signal which is normally used to enable the ROM memory.
