A synchronous tailgate facility (STF), is a facility to provide a generalized means of surfacing a large number of computer system per formance parameters from a computer which has very dense logic and external input/output pins are a limiting factor. This article describes how an STF can be used to measure a Central Electronics Complex (CEC) product. A CEC is a computer system consisting of one or more processors, a channel subsystem, and an electronic storage subsystem.
