Color cathode ray tubes (CRTs) normally have the deflection yoke bonded to the CRT by the CRT manufacturer. The prime reason for this is to set the yoke in the correct longitudinal position for best purity. With present yoke designs the yoke is no longer free to be rotated and this forces a requirement for very accurate rotational positioning by the CRT manufacturer to give a square image, and also forces very precise assembly of the CRT in the final housing to avoid tilted images.
