Abstract

Many situations arise where human attention to a computer is immediately desirable, even though a user's terminal is not activated: urgent mail or messages, task completion, scheduling changes, special conditions in operation of a program, urgent telecommunications, etc. The following sets forth how a terminal can be remotely activated to notify a user. The remote activation concept is utilized with: 1. Computer (host) activation of terminal. 2. Programmable microcomputer to automatically log-on, record, rank, relay messages via telephone, display, schedule, emit audio message, and deactivate terminal, etc.
