In the transfer of a sublimable dye from a paper support layer with heat and pressure, transfer to a polyester surface is enhanced in edge definition by lightly applying a silicone spray on both the polyester surface and the side of the support layer to which the heat and pressure are applied. The silicone may be a commercial material sold for mold release by spray application. The support layer may be prepared by storage in a high-humidity environment, but the silicone spray enhances performance without humidification.
