Abstract

During the creation of a text document the operator can specify the position on a page at which a page number is to be printed when the document has been revised to the point of pagination. Before paginanation, a command is stored with the document text to indicate that a page number should be placed at the chosen position during output of the document. If the text is output before pagination, a page number is assembled in Dewey Decimal format and included with the text at the chosen page position. T is number is not the final decimal number that is used when the document is typically paginated and printed for the last time. Instead, this Dewey Decimal page number designation is related to the system name of the page and aids the operator in accessing this page for further revision.
