Abstract

A tool provides the capability to flare nylon tubing to be used in conjunction with flared fittings for a hydraulic assembly. This tool (Fig. 1) consists primarily of a replaceable brass head machined to a desired flare angle and a lead-in tip 1. To the rear of the flaring head is mounted a button-style heating element 2. The head and heating element are encapsuled in an insulated sleeve 3 and capped on the rear. This assembly, referred to as a flaring head assembly, is mounted and clamped in a hinged top cradle-type holder 4 and mounted to a reciprocating slide table 5.
