Fig. 1 illustrates a full page width ribbon cartridge 25 containing a supply of ribbon 19 wound on drums 17 and 18. The ribbon 19 is the full width of a printed page and is slowly advanced from one drum to the other and then reversed to keep a fresh supply of ribbon moving across the platen 20. Impacts from hammer members or the like drive the paper medium (not shown) against the front surface of the platen 25 to create pressure against the ribbon 19 and make a mark on the backside of the sheet of paper.
