An associative storage module with sequential logic is described which can be used as a normal RAM (random-access memory) or as an associative storage. In spite of being realized by pure hardware, such a storage module, compared with a RAM, is highly flexible with respect to its function, so that the overhead for associative functions is reduced to a minimum.
