This article describes a method by which a grey scale image may be viewed on a color display (red, green, blue) by a pseudo grey scale; i.e., one which appears to consist primarily of shades of grey with the absence of any strong colors. The method will be described in terms of an 8-bit (256 level) grey scale image and a color display having 4-bit red, green and blue primaries, but is more generally applicable.
