A technique is described wherein check logging is done every time a Program Check or Machine Check class interrupt occurs in a processor, such as the IBM Series/1 processor. Logging provides a history of the last 64 class interrupt errors which occurred since power was turned on. Each error logs 16 words as follows: Function Words 8 General Purpose Registers 8 Level Status Register 1 Address Key Register 1 Instruction Address Register 1 Program Status Word 1 2 Native Clocks 2 2 Spares 2 Total 16.
