A multi-channel analog-to-digital conversion architecture is disclosed which employs a plurality of dedicated sample and hold circuits, which are respectively located between a plurality of analog inputs and an analog multiplexer whose output is connected to a single analog/digital converter. This enables the sampled analog values from the plurality of analog sources to be frozen at the same instant of time, and it further enables the minimization in the number of analog-to-digital converters required where a large plurality of analog channels are to be processed.
