High-speed comparators are described in which an offset of a limited number of bits is associated with a comparand. Example (1) illustrates one such comparison. Example 1 COMP = [A(0:15)>/- B(0:15) - D(14:15)]. where A and B are 16-bit positive integers with high-to-low order bits 0 to 15, and -D is a negative offset of B with bits 14 to 15.
