A wedge lock assembly permits the input force to be applied equally to both ends of the assembly. The assembly can be retained in a rigid position when released by using a keeper on the shaft in conjunction with a threaded support block. The wedges may also be designed with a geometry that permits die casting the openings and the restraining surfaces for the aligning wires.
