There is shown and described an apparatus for quickly and quietly separating sheets in a stack for feeding to a print station or the like. A single, free-rolling member is caused to travel across a stack. The roll wave phenomenon described in U.S. Patent 3,008,709 occurs. The apparatus automatically moves out of contact with the stack and returns to its initial position to await the start of another feed cycle.
