Abstract

In xerographic copiers, toner is fused to copy paper to provide a permanent image. The fusing is accomplished by heat from hot roll 11 and pressure between the hot roll and backup roll 12. The mechanical configuration shown in Fig. 1 provides the pressure for fusing, allows relief of pressure without clutching, and opens for access to other components.
