A monochrome cathode ray tube (CRT) display face-plate has an integral elongated window provided at the periphery of the screen. Phosphor material on the inside of the window is directly energizable by the CRT electron beam to produce a line image. This image is transmitted from the inside to the outside of the tube through the elongated window and hard copy of the whole image obtained by line-by-line direct exposure of an appropriate photosensitive material, which is moved across the window.
