Conventional centrifugally governed clockspring drive mechanisms have output velocity limited by a governor mechanism. This system, however, integrates clockspring drive and governing action into a single unit. The functions of clockspring housing, cable pulley, governor gear, and governor drum are performed by a single molded port. This concept is significant in that the governor shoes 10 rotate about the same axis 12 as the mainspring, with increased angular velocity provided by a planetary gearing system.
