A 1 KHz time-of-day reference signal is produced in synchronization with a 60 Hz power line signal. The method involves regulating low-accuracy high-frequency signals with high-accuracy low-frequency signals. Its implementation in a processor provides a time-of-day timer for long-term measurement and an interval timer for short-term measurement.
