Rolled Master Protector Guide
Shown and described is a protector guide for attachment to a blueprint
reproduction machine which facilitates feed and eliminates damage to the master
The guide consists of a slotted cylindrical tube 1 which is mounted in
brackets 2 on the print paper housing door 3 of a blueprint reproduction machine.
The inner diameter of tube 1 was chosen to be 3 inches (7.62 cm) and is
sufficient to hold masters which average 4 to 9 feet in length. Tube 1 is
arranged so that slot 4 is parallel to door 3 and opening away therefrom.
In operation, a rolled master 5 is inserted into tube 1 with the leading edge
protruding through slot 4. The leading edge of the master 5 is pulled out and
aligned manually with the leading edge of print paper 6 as it is pulled from paper
door 3. The aligned leading edges are manually guided to feed rollers 7 of the
blueprint reproduction machine.
As added security against creasing or soiling the master drawing, a hold-
down cylinder 8 mounted at either end in bearings may be attached to the
