A switched interconnection between a controlling unit (not shown) and a controlled unit (not shown) enables a plurality of controlling units to select and control any one of a plurality of controlled units. The controlled units have selection circuits to prevent dual selection or improper busy signals. In one interconnection, a change in a tag or control signal state indicates that a new control state was being supplied by a controlling unit. The controlled unit detects this transition and then inspects the associated data bus out for an address compare (AC).
