To operate the open face rack, gate screw 8, as shown in Fig. 1, is loosened and lower gate 7 is swung up to expose two grooves, one in each rail 3. The various pusher blocks 2 should be in the retracted (outward) position, permitting their respective contacts 4 to spring up away from the surface region of substrates 5 which are to be loaded. The substrates 5 are then slid up into the V-grooves, the lower gate 7 is returned to its home position, and the gate screw 8 tightened. Pusher blocks 2 are now pushed inward riding over their respective contacts 4, deflecting and holding them down against the substrate braze band.
