It is conventional to have a sleeve 10 centered around a clutch spring 18 such that the sleeve is acted upon by a pawl causing the clutch spring to wrap and unwrap under the control of the pawl. Previous clutch sleeves have generally been made from sintered powdered metal. The impact between the clutch pawl 16 and the powdered metal part creates a resonant sound or ringing noise which contributes substantially to machine operation, accoustical output and is, therefore, undesirable.
