Automatic typewriters employ automatic carrier return logic which automatically terminates a print line by effecting a carrier return when a word-ending code is sensed near the right margin. It is often desirous to inhibit such automatically generated carrier returns when keyboarding information such as return addresses, references, and tabular text which normally can exceed the right margin. Such an inhibit function is automatically generated by recognizing that such information is keyboarded following tabulation operations.
