In the use of bubble memory devices having a major loop-minor loop configuration, it is usually necessary to tolerate the presence of some defective minor loops, and systems using such memories must avoid writing to or reading from the defective loops. Also, the location of the defective loops, while being fixed for a given device, varies from device to device.
