Vertically mounted calendar rolls can be removed from a press by the use of a bridge mounted to the bearing block of a roll beneath the one to be removed. A cart having a pair of casters is fastened to each bearing block on opposite ends of the roll. The supporting bridge can include a rail for allowing the casters with the roll to be rolled out away from the vertical stack of rolls or the casters can fit onto a rail which is again a part of the bridge construction.
