The variable Dropensity of xerographic toners to adhere to a common type paper is measured by fusing a paper-toner sandwich and then measuring the force necessary to separate the two sheets of paper. This procedure can also be used with common toner and variable papers. Thus, either toner or paper can be evaluated merely by holding one of these two constituents constant, and observing force variations produced by variation in the other.
