Abstract

Products which include digital electronics have become increasingly difficult to test in the past few years. With the addition of micro-processors and other LSI (large-scale integration) components, previous test methods have become very limited at best. One test technique used to cope with the complexity of testing microprocessor-based cards is signature analysis. Signature analysis alone, however, does not solve all the problems involved with testing such systems. Micro-diagnostics for signature analysis testing often differs considerably from the self-diagnostics within the product itself, and an efficient method of selecting this code is needed. Also an efficient method of selecting the start, stop, and clock signals for the signature analyzer is needed.
