This guide provides a more detailed description of the syntax that is supported along with examples.
This search box also supports the look-up of an IP.com Digital Signature (also referred to as Fingerprint); enter the 72-, 48-, or 32-character code to retrieve details of the associated file or submission.
Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.
Concept search eliminates the need for complex Boolean syntax to inform retrieval. Our Semantic Gist engine uses advanced cognitive semantic analysis to extract the meaning of data. This reduces the chances of missing valuable information, that may result from traditional keyword searching.

Digital characters representing symbols in bar code are sensed, and sent to
a processor, without relative mechanical motion between the bar-code carrier
A bar-code strip affixed to a carrier, for example, a printed circuit board, is
imaged by a lens onto a linear photodiode array. The image is electronically
scanned by the array, under a clock's control, to supply a stream of bits through a
comparator to a 1-bit wide, randomly accessed memory (RAM) at sequential
addresses provided by address counters.
Once all the symbols represented by the bar-code strip are stored as bits in
the RAM, a reset circuit resets the address counters and an 8-bit select circuit
reads data, 8 bits at a time, into a shift register. Each time that the processor
acquires an 8-bit byte from the shift register, another 8 bits are entered.
The sensing and data acquisition operation may be automatically initiated.
For example, each time that a printed circuit board undergoes a test, both the
results of the test and the serial number of the board may be sent to the
processor for decoding and other operations.
