Abstract

The digital facsimile transmitter of Fig. 1 has an operator panel 10 for setting parameters into a facsimile control 11 which operates the transmitter. Analog image information from scanner 12 is processed by video circuits 13 and thresholder 14 to provide a black/white decision for each print element. The black/white data is supplied to a compressor 15 data is loaded into storage 16 via the alternating use of buffers 17 and 18. For example, when buffer 17 is loaded, its data is transferred to storage while buffer 18 is loaded. Storage 16 has sufficient capacity to store compressed data for more than one scanned page. Stored data may similarly be supplied alternately to buffers 19 and 20 for transmission via communications adapter 21 and modem 22 to telephone network 23.
