The present device provides a means for connector retention and concurrently limits connector separation to a predetermined acceptable amount within connector guidelines where an otherwise unacceptable tolerance condition exists. As shown in Fig. 1, the device used to control this separation is a linear ratchet, an inexpensive flexible molded thermoplastic detail that snaps onto a female connector which is more commonly made from rigid glass-filled thermoplastics or thermosetting materials, or it could also be an integral part of any thermoplastic connector.
