Abstract

Forms thickness sensing is important for the control of impact energy and flight time of print hammers used in high speed printers. The forms thickness measurement is made in the printer when the printer swing casting is opened and forms are installed in the machine. The forms thickness detector is deactivated during printing by an air stream produced by a fan operating by the drive for the type band.
