Increasing the Particle Concentration in Magnetic Storage Layers

In existing magnetic storage devices (e.g., disks, tapes), a magnetic particle polymer dispersion is applied in a liquid state to the substrate, using the spin coating method for magnetic disks. For magnetic tapes, the dispersion is applied to the foil substrate. In both cases, the semi-liquid particles are oriented by means of a homogeneous magnetic field. After the polymer has been cured, the layer obtained is polished; i.e., the surface layers are removed.
