Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.
Concept search eliminates the need for complex Boolean syntax to inform retrieval. Our Semantic Gist engine uses advanced cognitive semantic analysis to extract the meaning of data. This reduces the chances of missing valuable information, that may result from traditional keyword searching.

Image Transducer for a Typewriter
A compact image transducer is adapted to utilize the paper advance
mechanism of a typewriter in scanning a document.
Referring to Fig. 1, a document 10 advances along a paper path defined in
part by a platen 12. Ribbons 14 made up of fiber-optic light conductors are
positioned by a holder 16 to have conductor ends arranged in a line that is
adjacent to document 10 and is parallel to the longitudinal axis of platen 12. The
holder also includes a source (not shown) for directing light onto the document 10. The ribbons 14 are directed away from the platen 12 and are arranged one
on top of the other to place the other ends of the light conductors in a rectangular
configuration. The light pattern emanating from the ribbons 14 is focused by a
lens 20 (Fig. 2) onto a detector 22 which is preferably a two-dimensional
semiconductor imaging array. The detector 22 scans the focused pattern to
produce a train of electrical signals representative of a line scan of the document 10.
