This invention relates to a method for resynchronizing a receiver currently decoding data in n-bit frames to a frame boundary defining mbit frames where m > n and relatively prime. The method step comprises imposing a code point upon the receiver in consecutive m-bit-length frames. The code point is uniquely decodable in both frame lengths. It signifies to the receiver, upon decode, a frame-length switching signal whose leading bit serves also as the receiver synchronization mark.
