Materials for ink jet printing nozzles are generally chosen on the basis of one or more properties important to the making of the nozzle. Such a choice may not be optimal with respect to ink material interaction. One solution is to coat the nozzle with a material that has a low corrosion rate or desirable surface properties. The nozzle bore is especially difficult to coat, however, because it is such a narrow channel, typically measured in micrometers.
