Abstract

In ion lasers, a solenoidal magnetic field is typically used to decrease the plasma losses and, thus, increase the plasma density and laser power. However, the Brewster Zeeman and Brewster Faraday rotation increases the losses at the Brewster window and limits the advantage of the magnetic confinement.
