Abstract

The CMC 7 reading circuits have to detect the seven different sized bars as they pass in front of the magnetic head. The head picks up a flux hi(t), and the readback voltage at the output of the head has a magnitude E(t) which is proportional to the derivative of the flux to the time E = - k dPhi/dt. The data recovery based on amplitude detection operates as as follows: On the negative portion of signal E(t), a capacitor is charged to a negative peak voltage V(p)., and on the positive portion of signal E(t), a comparison is made between this voltage and k/V(p)/ with o
