For reasons of wear, the electrodes are guided in electrode guides. The cross-sections of these guides are such that they reliably accommodate the print electrodes, in addition to permitting compressed air from passing them in the direction of print. The compressed air removes in particular unwanted impurities from the print area, chemically improves the evaporation process of the aluminum, and cools the electrodes.
