In magnetic floppy disk storages "triburst" servo patterns are arranged in sectors in each disk to provide track following servo information. When the disk is initialized, an accurate reproduction of the patterns has to be recorded on each disk. As a stack contains a great number of disks, this is a cumbersome process.
